Are your feet hurting? Read this

The therapists at Margaret Dabb's foot clinic at Boots on Saturday were rushed off their feet - if you'll pardon the pun. And no wonder - not often do you get the chance to pick the brains of celebrity chiropodist Margaret Dabbs for free. Not only that that, after chatting to Margaret, I'm whisked off by Tamara for my consultation. I thought this would involve me moaning about my too-wide feet and rather painful bunions - I know, I know, I'm so un-rock'n'roll - and then the therapist would give me a few general guidelines, but not a bit of it. My shoes and socks are whipped off and in 15 minutes I'm given the speediest and most thorough chiropody session ever. This girl knows her stuff!
‘I love feet,' she tells me. ‘I love my job and when you are happy in your work it doesn't matter how busy you are.' This from the woman who has already seen 10 people this morning, and she's hardly been there a couple of hours.
And my feet are singing afterwards, I feel like I'm walking on air. This is mostly due to the expert attention my feet have received, and partly to do with the lovely foot lotion, containing emu oil, that has been rubbed on them.
‘I did have some of that lotion,' I reveal, ‘but I gave it to my mother. She has worse feet than me. In fact, she gave me her feet.'
‘Yes but of course she also gave you many wonderful things,' says Tamara sagely, before advising me to get some more emu oil for myself.
Foot care and life philosophy - I like it!
