Return to the Golden Age of Hollywood with this elegant, sleek and sophisticated look. It takes a little practice to get right, but for Hollywood starlets who like to turn heads, it is well worth the wait.

How to prepare

Use a light moisturiser suited to your skin type to prep your skin.

Beautifully arched eyebrows are key for this look, so make sure you remove any stray hairs with tweezers.

To create the look

For a perfect base, apply a matte foundation and set it with a light dusting of face powder.

Contour your cheekbones with a light taupe shade using a soft, angled brush underneath the centre of the cheekbone, blending softly out towards your ear. Our top tip - think shadow rather than colour, so start with a little and build up the shade until you're happy with the final look.

For classic movie star 50s flicks take a liquid liner and gently sweep across your upper lid sticking close to the lash line, add a gentle flick to the outer corner of your eye to finish the look. Apply one coat of a mascara to lengthen and define lashes. Our top tip- for extra glamour and flutter, try some fake eyelashes for an evening.

Follow the contour of your lips with a red lip liner, or for old school elegance, try a pointed shape at the cupid bow of your mouth. Apply a ruby red lipstick, blot the lips gently on a tissue and apply another coat for colour that will last longer.

For a more natural take on the 50s Glamour look, use a tinted red lip-gloss rather than a red lipstick.

To finish off the look apply two coats of pillar-box red nail varnish to your nails, long or short.
